Knauf Airless Backing Readymix Plasters

Knauf Airless Backing is used as a backing coat, for In-situ poured concrete, thin joint blockwork, poor or undulating backgrounds, to provide a flat even surface ready to receive a finishing coat application. For best results this product should be used in conjunction with Knauf Airless Finish, Knauf Airless Finish Light or Knauf Airless DuraDeco.

Application and Installation

Knauf Airless Backing is recommended for the preparation of newly erected thin joint blockwork or in-situ concrete and can also be used for the refurbishment of poor backgrounds such as interior plaster, walls and ceilings. Knauf Airless Backing should be used to fill and level holes or undulations, levelling the surface prior to application of finishing coat. Knauf Airless Backing can be applied up to 3mm thick in one application, then process can be repeated until required flat surface is achieved.

Up to 15m2 per 21.0kg bag at 1mm thickness.

Installation

InstallationSuitable Substrates Knauf Airless Backing is suitable for poor surfaces such as interior plaster, painted walls and ceilings, thin joint blockwork or in-situ concrete.

Knauf Airless Backing is suitable for use with all plasters and jointing materials.

Application Temperature Should not be used below 5ºC or above 30ºC. Max air humidity 65% R.H

Application Type Graco Mark V TexSpray, hand or roller application. Use tip size 539-543 when spray plastering.
Application Thickness Can be applied up to 3mm thick in one application. Recommended min/max thickness 2-5mm.
Drying time 12-24 hours in average, this is dependent on application thickness, temperature, ventilation, air humidity and type of substrate.
Mixing Ready-mixed product, no dilution required.
